Responsible play

DFS is entertainment with real money on the line. Here's how to keep it that way, where you can play, and where to get help.

If gambling is a problem for you or someone you know, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537). It's free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, every day, in the United States. You can also chat online at 1800gambler.net.

  • National Problem Gambling Helpline: 1-800-GAMBLER (call or text), ncpgambling.org.
  • Massachusetts: GameSense at gamesensema.com; the Massachusetts Council on Gaming and Health, macgh.org.
  • Gamblers Anonymous: gamblersanonymous.org.
  • Self-exclusion: DraftKings and FanDuel both offer self-exclusion, deposit limits, entry limits and cool-off periods in your account settings. Use them.

Play within your means

  • Decide what you can afford to lose before the week starts, and treat it like the price of a ticket, not an investment.
  • Never chase losses. A bad Sunday doesn't make next Sunday more likely to hit.
  • Don't play with money meant for rent, bills, groceries or debt, and never borrow to play.
  • Keep it in proportion: if DFS is affecting your mood, sleep, relationships or work, that's the signal to stop and talk to someone.
  • Expect variance. Even a well-built tournament lineup loses most of the time; good process shows up over a season, not a slate.

What this tool is, and isn't

GameTime Win is a research tool. It simulates games and suggests lineups; it cannot guarantee a win and it doesn't make anything "safe". It never touches your DraftKings or FanDuel account, never enters contests for you and has no idea how much you've deposited. Deciding whether to play, how many entries to submit and how much to risk is entirely yours. We publish our own track record, including the misses, so you can judge the tool honestly.

State availability

Whether you can enter paid daily fantasy contests depends on where you are when you enter, and the rules change. As of this writing:

  • Paid DFS is not available on the major platforms in Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Washington.
  • Pick'em-style contests (player-vs-the-house over/under games) are restricted or unavailable in several additional states; in some of those states traditional salary-cap contests are still offered.
  • California's status is unsettled following a 2025 state Attorney General opinion; operators have changed what they offer there.
  • Some states have their own age minimums (19+ or 21+) or operator licensing rules that affect which contests are offered.

Always check DraftKings' (or your operator's) current availability for your state before depositing or entering. GameTime Win itself is a research tool and may be used anywhere, but you may only use it to prepare entries for contests you're legally allowed to enter. This page is general information, not legal advice; we update it as the picture changes but it may lag.

Age requirements

You must be at least 18 to use GameTime Win. Many states require you to be 21 to enter paid DFS contests (and some 19); if you're under your state's minimum you may not use the Service to prepare entries for paid contests. Operators verify age and identity when you deposit; we don't, and we rely on you to be honest.

Setting limits

  • Set a deposit limit and an entry-fee limit on your DFS accounts. Both DraftKings and FanDuel support daily, weekly and monthly limits.
  • Pick a bankroll number for the season and a per-slate cap (a common rule of thumb is a small single-digit percentage of the bankroll per slate).
  • Take breaks. Both operators offer cool-off periods of days to months and permanent self-exclusion.
  • If you're not sure whether you have a problem, the NCPG screening tools take two minutes.
